Plan Your Move
We’ve helped hundreds of buyers purchase their dream home – so we’ve learned some smart ways to make that move as smooth as possible. Here are a few tips:
Book a moving company ASAP. With so many home sales in Little Rock and Hot Springs, it’s important to hire a mover as soon as you know your closing date. Remember to take photos of important items before they’re packed.
Let your insurance agency know about your move. Be sure there are no interruptions of coverage between your current residence and your new one.
Set up utilities, internet, TV and other services. Again, the more notice the better, given that service technicians may be scheduled a few weeks out.
Plan for yard work. If you aren’t hiring a service, be sure you have everything you need, such as a lawnmower, gardening tools, an edger or a leaf blower.
Change your mailing address. This is easy to do online.
Find the right resources. Compile a list of key people to have on call if needed. This could be anyone from a handyman to the power company’s customer service department, new trash service and more. Your builder and new neighbors should be able to give you referrals to skilled service folks to have on call.
Register with your property owners’ association. If your neighborhood has one, you should have a voice in decisions that could affect you. You’ll also want to learn the association’s rules and who to contact with questions, especially if you plan to make alterations to your home or yard.
